Llorona, or the Weeping Women

  • The Plaza Theatre at Boston Center for the Arts 539 Tremont Street Boston, MA, 02116 United States (map)

A modern re-telling of the Mexican myth of la Llorona; Follow Lorena Ines Sanchez-Rosalba as she falls into her fate. She falls in love with disconnected third generation Logan Aguilar, follows him across the border, only to fall into one of the United States most dangerous inhumane hands: ICE. A play that questions the burdens of guilt, the failures of immigration and policy, and what it takes to come to terms with the pain of a Latina woman, the play is a beautiful drama that is sure to captivate audiences with Tovar-Borghini’s writing alongside direction by Shai Vaknine. Featuring performances by some Boston staples and fresh faces, the play is led by Annika Bolton in the title role of Lorena and Thomas Vice playing opposite her as Logan.
